More furniture

Mema has decided to get rid of the furniture that is in the bedroom I use when I stay there. She decided she wanted new since she has had it since my mom still lived at home. She decided I can have it and maybe her couch. :)

Too much to do

So the first question is why am I posting instead of working. I have a paper due tomorrow that has barely been started and an Art History test over the Greeks, which pretty much looks the same to me. I figured out the computer program I was supposed to explain to the class but didn't get to explain it to the class today so I get to do that Thursday. I really wanted to get it over with but I once again opened my mouth and said sure I can come back Thursday. I have to quit doing that.

It's cold!

I knew there was a reason I didn't want to get out of my nice warm bed. Its 34 degrees outside!

Why?

Why do I do this to myself? I know I'm not a computer person. I'm much better at doing calculations by hand. Granted I'm okay at doing things in excel, but doing things in programs that were designed to run in DOS normally ends badly. Even the EXCEL files I was trying to work on I can't figure out. If I could just understand what the person before me did it wouldn't be so bad but I have no clue what they did. I've really got to learn to tell the professors I'm working for no.

Furniture

My Dad came up this weekend and is helping me with rearanging my apartment and he brought me some furnature as well as helping me get the furniture organized. We have finally got my apartment ready for the furniture. Now to bring it upstairs.

One of those days
Saturday, September 13, 2003 03:16 p.m.

I got up this morning about 3 AM planning on leaving for Memphis. I'm still in Huntsville. I got on the interstate and a few miles down the road my car starts making this strange hissing noise, so I pulled over and called my Dad. He was probably less than happy at being woken up at 5 AM but he listened to me explain what my car was doing and then told me I would probably be fine to make it to Memphis. So I get back on the road and my phone rings. Figuring it’s my Dad I quickly pull onto the shoulder and answer it. While I'm on the phone my car overheats. I turn it off and after a few minutes I drive to the nearest gas stations. I'm pretty good about keeping an eye on the fluids in my car so I can swear that it has water but I let the engine cool down and check it. Sure enough it has water. So I'm back on the phone with Dad. He tells me not to come home and to take it to either a Goodyear or a Firestone. He also tells me it’s probably a problem with the thermostat or the water pump. So on Pat's recommendation I take it to Goodyear. Well taking your car in on a Saturday is a bad thing. It’s a lot of people's off day, so they were pretty busy. The people who worked there actually apologized to me several times about how long it was taking to get to it but I got more reading done while waiting than I had all semester so I really didn't mind. Well, they replaced the thermostat, then the mechanic comes up to me and tells me there is a problem with the head gasket. Trying to be hopeful I told him about the fact my car burns oil and he said that might be it but he didn’t seem too convinced. He proceeded to tell me not to take my car on any long trips. Sure enough my car is now leaving more smoke behind it. :(

So I guess the important question for right now is can I ride with someone to Equinox?

Things not to do.

I really have to learn not to discuss politics with my parents. Especially when the issue of freedom versus safety is involved.

It's over
Monday, August 4, 2003 08:50 p.m.

This semester is finally over. After a two and a half hour final presentation its done. I really meant to take it easy this summer but it didn't quite work that way. Midnight and I head to Memphis tomorrow at seven in the morning. It will be nice not to have any classes for a few weeks. Of coarse I still have to decided what I'm going to do after I graduate, something I should probably figure out sometime soon. I'm kinda thinking that maybe leaving Huntsville wouldn't be a completely bad idea. I'll miss everyone but starting over might be kinda nice.

Rant

You probably don't want to read this but if I don't get this out of my system I'm going to do or say something I'm going to regret tomorrow and making enemies of people who control your grades is always a bad idea. I've been trying to get answers about my last lab since June 29. Now granted I didn't expect him to answer me on a Sunday but I figured he'd get the email first thing on Monday. He set up a meeting time and didn't show up. So I emailed him questions, which he never responded to. He did email the entire lab section on Tuesday night to say that there would be no lab because he had to have surgery. This was a good reason for missing the meeting, I felt bad about being annoyed at him. I figured he would respond to my questions when he felt better so I tried to be patient. He never responded. I tried to set up a meeting time for today. I emailed him on Monday. He finally responded at 11:22 today asking me to call him at 11:30. I got the email and called him at 11:36 he was already gone! That was less than 15 minutes after he finally emailed me back.

Sorry for all the complaining but I needed to get it out of my system.

Cute furry pet

I have a cute furry pet now. :) His name is Midnight and he is a black bear hamster. He is probably going to end up being the most spoiled hamster ever.

Things not to do

After today I can add several things to my list of things I should not do. The first one seems obvious and that is not spill acid on your lab instructor. Actually he took it rather well he never said anything he just ran his hand under water. It probably helps that it was rather diluted. The other is never believe graders when they tell you if you know just the information that they told class you will be okay on the test. It is a lie. You will be clueless on at least 40% of the test. One of these days I will learn not to trust people. I'm going to go to sleep now and try to forget about today until I get my test back.
